A theatrical Colosseum for all forms of entertainment
Subsequently demolished to much public chagrin!
A massive steel framed, lighting armature with bridges connected this multi-level heritage theatre into a dynamic new theatre in the round. It was Melbourne’s circus Maximus, replete with bars, dance floors, theatre seating and new lounges, The Metro Nightclub became iconic, hosted iconic bands and performances, as well as being the hippest dance venue in the country.
It was demolished (2015) for a new hotel.
